DescriptionThis collection consists of abstracts and transcripts of charters of the Grosvenor family of Eaton, 12th-18th centuries, arranged in order of monarch. The packet for each monarch from Stephen (1135-1154) to Anne (1702-1714) are numbered 1-25 and contain a summary list of the charters for that reign, followed by transcripts or abstracts. The lists were published in A Calendar of Ancient Charters ... preserved at Eaton Hall, Cheshire ... with an introduction and Observations on the Charters (Warrington 1862).

Administrative HistoryWilliam Beamont (1797-1889) was a member of the Chester Archaeological Society. He wrote histories of Halton and Frodsham and published a translation of the Domesday Book entries for Cheshire. This collection forms part of J P Earwaker Collection, ref. ZCR 63, and has for convenience of reference been listed separately.
